8 Reasons Caldwell is the Most Romantic Place to Spend Valentine’s Day Weekend

Years ago, you may have never considered Caldwell to be the ultimate Valentine's Day destination but the truth is it doesn't get much better than spending a romantic holiday weekend in the 2C!

You guys were actually the ones that named Caldwell's Indian Creek Steak House one of the most romantic restaurants in the entire Treasure Valley. Grabbing dinner there an then lacing up to do some skating at Indian Creek Plaza's ice ribbon is a perfect date night, but what I had something a little different in mind.

What you might not realize is that Valentine's Day is prime time for Caldwell's Sunnyslope Wine Trail! Many of the wineries participate in "Wine and Chocolate" weekend and offer unique tasting experiences that you don't get to experience on a typical weekend! If your significant other loves wine, this is one of the coolest wine experiences you can find outside of Napa Valley.

With Valentine's Day falling on the Friday of a long holiday weekend, you have plenty of time to spread out the celebration over a few days and add in a visit to the Sunnyslope! Here's some of the events happening on the wine trail this weekend.

Bitner Vineyards | 16645 Plum Rd

• Date: Saturday, February 15
• Event: Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Truffles
• Description: Enjoy four exquisite wines paired with two chocolate truffles and cheeses.
• Cost: $5 wine club members, $15 nonmembers

Fujishin Cellars | 15593 Sunnyslope Rd

• Date: Friday, February 14 - Sunday, February 16
• Event: Wine for Your Valentine
• Description: Taste any of the Fujishin and Free Dog wines and pair them with four free toffee samples from Andy's Candy.
• Cost: Free for groups of eight or fewer

HAT Ranch Winery and Vineyard | 15343 Plum Road

• Date: Saturday, February 15 - Sunday, February 16
• Event: Wine and Chocolate Weekend with ARNO Chocolates
• Description: This tasting includes sample from local local chocolatier ARNO Chocolates.
• Cost: FREE for wine club members, $5 nonmembers

Zhoo Zhoo and Hells Canyon | 18835 Symms Rd

• Date: Friday, February 14 - Sunday, February 16
• Event: Valentine's Open House
• Description: Located in an old bed and breakfast, stop by to taste wines from both Zhoo Zhoo and Hells Canyon Winery. Tasting includes truffles from Miss D'arcy's Bakeshoppe. If you bring your sweetie stop by the kissing photo booth or pick-up a postcard to send as a secret admirer.
• Cost: $5 Wine Club Members, $10 Nonmembers

Huston Vineyards | 16473 Chicken Dinner Rd

• Date: Friday February 14 - Sunday, February 16
• Event: Wine & Chocolate
• Description: Each day this weekend is a little bit different. On Friday enjoy huston wines paired with chocolate covered strawberries. On Saturday, they invite you down to the production facility at 16755 Chicken Dinner Rd for a meet-up with Emilee's Candees. Proceeds from Saturday's event are donated to the Idaho Foodbank's Mobile Pantry program. Your tasting includes tasting of four wines, four truffles and a commemorative wine glass. Sunday, they'll be back at the winery to pair bars from Dream Chocolate with their wines.

Sawtooth Winery | 19348 Lowell Rd, Building C

• Date: Saturday, February 15
• Event: Succs & Sips Workshop with A Succulent Day
• Description: There's not many spots for this workshop left. Pick your planter, pick your succulents and cacti and get ready to plant your own arrangement with a little help from A Succulent Day. Your ticket includes expert instruction, soil and decorative toppings and a glass of wine.
• Cost: $18 + cost of the planter and plants you choose

Ste. Chapelle | 16645 Plum Rd

• Date: Saturday, February 15 - Sunday February 16
• Event: The Best Pairing
• Description: From 12-2 or 2:30-4:30, stop by Ste. Chapelle for wine pairings, live music and treats from The Chocolate Bar. Buying advanced tickets is recommended
• Cost: $20 in advance, $25 at the door if available

Williamson Orchard | 14807 Sunnyslope Road

• Date: Friday, February 14 - Sunday February 16
• Event: Wine & Chocolate Weekend
• Description: Enjoy a flight of your favorite Williamson Vineyards wines with bite-sized treats. There's a mini-charcuterie plate available to purchase in addition to the normal tasting fee.
