Whole Foods Celebrates Earth Day With Plug-In Car Show, Compost Give Away
Whole Foods was one of the first places I saw preferred parking for electric vehicles in the Treasure Valley. This weekend, they're giving people who drive them a chance to show off those vehicles!
The grocer is teaming up with the Idaho Chapter of the Sierra Club and other area vendors for an Earth Day Celebration from 12-4 p.m. this Sunday, April 22. During the celebration, electric vehicle owners will show off how cool their zero emission vehicles really are. It's the third year for this unique Treasure Valley event and more than 15 cars are expected to be part of the show.
The day also includes a Green Info Fair with visits from Idaho Power, the Boise Bicycle Project, Republic services, City of Boise, Boise Electric Bikes, Boise Green Bikes and more. They'll be there to show people how you can reduce your environmental impact by changing how you use energy in your home to the benefits of recycling or replacing your typical commute with a bike ride into the office.
In conjunction with the event, Whole Foods is also giving away 20 yards of free compost in the south dirt parking lot during regular business hours now through Sunday. The compost give away is made possible through a partnership with the City of Boise Curb-It Program.
