Brenda and I get up somewhere between 3 and 3:30 Monday thru Friday except when we are on some sort of break or on the weekend.  I did an experiment over the summer when we were on break and intentionally got at least 8 hours sleep each day.  Here's what I found out.

When I got the 8 or more hours of sleep, I would lose at least a half pound each night.  When I got 6-7 hours, I would either stay the same weight or gain at least a half pound a day.  I didn't change my eating or exercise, so those weren't a factor, sleep was the only thing that was different.

Now Yahoo Health has created a nifty graph to really show you what not getting enough sleep does to your body.

After reading how less than 6 hours sleep a night not only affects your body short term but also long term, I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure I'm getting enough sleep. I used to live by the motto "I can sleep when I die."  Now knowing I will die at an earlier age from not getting enough sleep my motto is, "if the doors shut, be very very quiet and don't wake the monster."

How many hours sleep do you get a night and what kind?
