Mountain Coaster Set to Open at Bogus Basin
Bogus Basin is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and Bogus has some new summer activities and attractions to help you celebrate…things such as a new mountain coaster where riders will descend more than 2400 feet. But that’s not all…..
Beginning July 1, Bogus Basin will be opening most of its new summer attractions, including four trampoline bungee jumps, a 32-foot tall climbing wall, and if you love tubing in the winter, you'll love Bogus’s new 300-foot long summer tubing lanes. You can even go panning for gold and other gems in a throwback to past mining days in the gem state....get it gem mining...gem state?
Bogus will also be expanding their mountain biking area that will feature jumps and other obstacles. And there's still more to come, with plans in development to bring a zip line to the area too....
But the new mountain coaster will be the biggest summer highlight for the new mountain attractions. Take a quick look at the video of the mountain coaster in Park City Utah,…Bogus Basin’s will be very similar. Unfortunately, the coaster which was originally to open August 1, has been pushed back a few weeks to the last week in August, but that doesn't mean you still cant have loads of fun with all the other new attractions that will be open beginning July 1st.
According to a story from KTVB, there was a lot of work to be done to get the mountain coaster ready: “Bogus had to clear the track, and do a lot of brush cutting and clear the area to lay the track down, Bogus workers have been working for two months to get to where they are right now,"
The great thing about the Mountain coaster is that it will run in the winter too and will also be able to run night times with the addition of lights
The new summer attractions are being funded due to the last two successful years of heavy snow and heavy use by snowboarders and skiers. These new attractions will not only generate revenue in the summer, but also hopefully offset winters when we don’t get as much snow and there are less visitors to the mountain.
Bogus is also expanding their patio space and putting in two permanent fire rings that will be open during the summer and winter.
Also starting July 1 the ski lifts will be running Thursday through Sunday for mountain sightseeing
Bogus Basin as a year round resort…..just one more reason why Boise is so Amazing…can’t wait till all the attractions and features are up and running.
