If you’ve been following along during National Ice Cream Month, you know I’ve been making it my mission to highlight some of the Treasure Valley’s best local ice cream shops.

This week’s stop took me to downtown Emmett… and wow.

I finally made it to the Emmett Creamery and I can honestly say I had one of the best scoops of ice cream I’ve ever eaten.  I’m not exaggerating. The Chocolate Covered Banana Is Incredible!

I’ve had a lot of ice cream over the years. (Probably more than my doctor would recommend.)  But the Chocolate Covered Banana flavor absolutely blew me away.

Imagine the rich flavor of real chocolate paired with perfectly ripe banana. It tasted exactly like those frozen chocolate-covered bananas you get at the fair, only creamier and somehow even better.

It wasn’t overly sweet. It wasn’t artificial. It just tasted… real.

By the time I finished my scoop, I was already trying to decide what flavor I’d order on my next visit.

Homemade Really Does Taste Different

One of the things that makes Emmett Creamery stand out is that everything is made in-house using cane sugar, with no high-fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes, or fake flavors. They also make their waffle cones fresh throughout the day, so the aroma hits you as soon as you walk through the door.

If someone in your family has dietary restrictions, they also offer dairy-free options, including sorbet, coconut-based, and pea-protein ice creams, so everyone can enjoy a sweet treat together.

More Than Just Ice Cream

While the ice cream is definitely the star of the show, you’ll also find:

  • Fresh waffle cones
  • Banana splits
  • Sundaes
  • Shakes and malts
  • Ice cream sandwiches
  • Floats
  • Cannoli
  • Cookies

It’s the kind of hometown ice cream shop that makes you want to slow down for a while.

A Great Excuse for a Road Trip

Located in the heart of downtown Emmett inside a beautifully restored 1904 building, Emmett Creamery has become one of those destinations that’s worth planning a drive around. The family-owned shop opened after years of restoring the historic building and creating a welcoming place for the community to gather.

If you’re already headed to Emmett for lunch, a visit to the farmers market, or a drive through Gem County, do yourself a favor and save room for dessert.

Trust me on this one.

My Recommendation?

Order the Chocolate Covered Banana... If it’s available when you stop in, don’t overthink it.

It may just become your new favorite flavor… because it definitely became mine.

Have you been to Emmett Creamery? What’s your go-to flavor? Let me know—I think I may need another excuse to make the drive back!

No Churn Idaho Blueberry Ice Cream

There’s nothing quite like homemade ice cream on a hot Idaho summer day—especially when it’s made with fresh, local ingredients. For this easy No-Churn Idaho Blueberry Ice Cream, I used rich heavy cream from Reed’s Dairy and sweet, locally grown blueberries from Old Fashioned Fruit & Vegetables at Cloverdale and Overland in Boise. It’s a simple recipe that’s packed with fresh summer flavor and a great way to support a couple of Idaho favorites while celebrating National Ice Cream Month. Enjoy the photos, then give it a try in your own kitchen!
