Boise has proven time and time again it's a prime location for pro sports, with the most recent example being a pro soccer team that will begin competing in March of 2026. Now, the city will have yet another opportunity to show why it deserves another pro sports team this September.

Is Boise Ready For Another Pro Sports Team?

From what we've seen, a majority of people have received the news of Boise getting a pro soccer team very well. Sure, there are a few people who might be unhappy about it, and that's okay; everyone's entitled to their opinion on both sides.

But, what if the people who are unhappy about pro sports coming to Boise have valid reasons why it is a bad idea?

For example, we all know housing a pro sports team can be expensive for taxpayers, increase traffic in certain areas, and bring attention that some people don't necessarily want for Boise.

Most of us understand those concerns, but we can't overlook the positives either. Some of those positives include increasing tourist revenue, creating new jobs, and rallying the community behind its own pro sports team.

A Taste Of Pro Sports Is Coming To Boise In September

All this talk about pro soccer is cool and all, but if you've ever been to an Idaho Steelheads game, you know how passionate Boise and the Treasure Valley are about hockey.

And what's not to love about hockey? It's full of high-speed, non-stop, physical action, and we can't get enough of it.

Now, Boise is set to welcome to NHL teams to town this September for some preseason action.

"We are extremely excited to be able to bring NHL hockey back to the Treasure Valley for the second time in the last four years," said Eric Trapp, President of Idaho Sports Properties, in a press release from the Idaho Stampede.

"With the success we have had hosting NHL events in downtown Boise, it was a goal of ours to host another game after seeing how well it was received back in 2022."

The game will be between the LA Kings and Utah Mammoth at 7 PM at Idaho Central Arena on September 30th. The Steelheads say that season ticket holders will have the first right to reserve seats to the NHL preseason game with a presale on July 15th to the deadline on August 1st.

The date for the general public to purchase their tickets will be announced at a later time. You can get more info from the Steelheads HERE.
