Idaho's New Residents: Californians Upset by the Wave of Washington Transplants

Idahoans have never been shy about voicing their frustrations about Californians moving to Idaho. The influx of newcomers has sparked concerns about cultural and political shifts, increased traffic, and rising housing prices. Some locals fear that Idaho's unique charm and conservative leaning are being overshadowed by the incoming wave of Californians. I don't know what it was about this review I found on Niche, but even though I've only lived here for just over a year, my love for the Treasure Valley continues to grow every single day.

Isn't it ironic how the tables have turned? Now, Californians are in a similar boat, expressing discontent over folks from Oregon and Washington relocating to Idaho. So you think bad drivers are exclusive to your town? News flash, terrible drivers are a global pandemic. They're not just lurking in your rearview mirror, they're everywhere! From Idaho to Istanbul, no one is safe from the dreaded left-lane hog or the notorious non-signaler. Driving can be a wild ride, no matter where you live. Also, this Meridian resident somehow managed to miss out on the smorgasbord of fantastic eateries that the rest of us are enjoying! We are surrounded by great places to eat, from Tacos to Italian and everything in between. But, hey, maybe your taste buds are on vacation.

You, with your whopping three years of Idaho residency, are already playing gatekeeper? It's almost adorable! How about swapping that grumpy hat for a welcoming one? Maybe even invite these newcomers over for some Idahoan potatoes. Trust me, you might learn a thing or two from their stories. After all, isn't life too short to spend it grumbling about neighbors when you could be making new friends? Food for thought, my friend!
