I'm wakin' up the family this morning with the  tantalizing aromas of a harvest breakfast. Today's menu includes farm fresh eggs, hash browns, bacon, country (made from scratch) gravy and applesauce made from the fruit I picked yesterday.

My little apple tree looks barren today.  Yesterday I felt like I'd taken down a bunch of apple ornaments from an outside Christmas tree.  This is the first year I've actually gotten enough apples to fill the bottom couple of drawers in our two refrigerators.  So I'm pretty proud of how well my tree did especially since we had all those crazy wind storms that rolled through that could have stripped it of all it's fruit a month ago.

I LOVE spring and summer but I have to admit I really do enjoy fall cooking.  One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to make a huge pot of stew chock full of all kinds of veggies I grew myself.  I like to serve my stew up with big chunks of homemade bread and butter and then follow it up with my deep dish apple pie with fresh whipped cream.

If you garden at all have you noticed that stuff you plant and fuss over just tastes better?
