Boy is Moved to Tears When He Receives a Seahawks Jersey

Shaquem Griffin is a special talent. He had his hand amputated at a young age, and he never let that stop him from becoming the best football player he could be.  He's inspiring all of us now as a Seattle Seahawk, and his story has extra special meaning for one boy who shares his experience.

When Shaquem Griffin takes the field, it feels like fans are cheering for him.  Seahawks fans want the team to do well too of course, but it's really extra fun when Shaquem Griffin makes a great individual play in the process.  He is a rock star who has overcome something that others might use as an excuse, and we love it when he succeeds.

His biggest fan might be 11-year old Daniel Eden, whose mom Wendi (@WendiEden) said Daniel was born with ABS, or amniotic band syndrome, which caused him to be born without one hand.  He shares that bond with Shaquem Griffin, who had his hand amputated when he was four years old to alleviate complications from a similar amniotic band issue.

When a Shaquem Griffin jersey arrived in the mail as a gift, Daniel was moved to tears.  And therefore, so were we.  Word spread quickly about what these two have in common, and it wasn't long before Griffin posted a response on Twitter (@Shaquemgriffin).  Since then several outlets have picked up the story, including CNN, ESPN, and the Ellen Show.

The story isn't over yet.  Daniel's mom tweeted that the family may be able to meet Shaquem December 2 at the Seahawks vs. 49ers game in Seattle.
