Boise Youth Football Team Saves Couple in Roll Over Crash
We've all heard these types of stories on the news or come across them online, but how often do they involve some brave young people who live in your own backyard?
The stories I'm talking about are the stories where in the face of unspeakable tragedy, your adrenaline kicks in and you become the Hulk in order to save a life. That type of hysterical strength kicked in when 22 year-old Lauren Kornacki of Virginia was able to pick up a BMW off her dad after it fell off the jack while he was working on it. According to the BBC, it played a huge role in mom Lydia Angyiou fighting a polar bear while her son and his friends played hockey in Canada, too.
And it must have helped the Boise Black Knights 13U football team become heroes on Monday! The young men were in a three van caravan back to the Treasure Valley after winning the Bay Area Spring Football League Tournament of Champions when a car in front of them rolled over. According to KTVB, the coaching staff and players made the decision to stop the caravan to try and save the elderly couple in the overturned car.
They were able to free the male driver after cutting his seat belt. The female passenger was a little harder to free, so the team got together to push the vehicle on it's side far enough for one of the boys to pull her out.
After making sure the couple got the help they needed, the team got back in their vans like nothing happened. They weren't looking for recognition as heroes, but if you ask me, they certainly deserve a huge pat on the back for their quick thinking and bravery!
