Boise State Makes More Pieces of Kellen Moore Era Blue Turf Available to Fans
Well, this news is certainly putting a cramp in the idea I had to pick the fibers of "The Blue" that's trapped in my wedding dress out to sell to people!
Kidding...sort, of. When Boise State ripped out the old blue turf in April, there were know plans to sell the pieces of it to fans. The university thought it as so damaged that there was no way that it would hold up long enough to be a collectors item. However, the crew that was removing it was super careful and was able to salvage a few rolls of it! 500 lucky Boise State fans had the chance to buy their square a turf during the June open house where the newest version of "The Blue" made its debut.
No surprise, those sold out quickly! After all, there was a lot of history that happened on that turf. It was installed in 2010, which means Kellen Moore played his last home game as a Bronco on that turf. It's also the same turf where they were crowned the Mountain West Champions in 2017. If you're a hardcore fan who missed out, you're getting a do-over!
Boise State will be selling an additional 500 pieces of the turf at the team's "Fall Fan Fest" this Saturday, August 24. Each piece is a square foot and will run $39.95. You'll be able to purchase them inside the Ford Tailgate Zone at DeChevrieux Field. The tailgate zone opens at 11:30 a.m. and will be your headquarters for games, inflatables, a photo-op with the Bronco Girl and her horse, food trucks and more!
Gates for the open practice session at Albertsons Stadium open at 1 p.m. with the practice scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Players, coaches, the spirit squad, Buster and the Bronco Girl plan on hanging around afterwards for photos and autographs with fans on The Blue.
