Things To Do With Vinyl
If you thought this would be a post on kinky things to do with vinyl, sorry I have more productive things to do with my time. Not that I would mind seeing Brenda in a "Catwoman costume."
If you had told me 20 years ago that I would enjoy having a small ranch with horses and a bunch of poodles, I would have said you were nuts. But not only is it my big toy ranch, it's also a big Lego/construction set. I'm going to take you through a couple of projects that mostly cost me nothing but time.
I try and get any three rail vinyl fence that is being removed. Rather than it going to the trash, I've figured out ways to re-purpose it. Next week I will show you how to take old three rail fence that has been removed and turn it into a new fence with no cement or digging holes.
This project I'm going to tell you how I turned fence rails into...flooring in the barn.
I started with a pile of different size rails. All of them were damaged from being removed so I had quite a mess to start with.
I started by flattening the dirt floor of the fifth bay and since I was laying vinyl on it there was no more prep needed. then I took the longest rails made them all the same length and then fitted them in the fifth bay. I then took ones that were different lengths and fitted them in the odd areas. My next test was to walk on it. It held me just fine, so I put a few hay bales on the floor to see how it would hold, no problem. Within an hour I had two tons of hay sitting on the floor without any problems
I then took what I had learned and went to the tack room. Once again since I was putting vinyl on the dirt there was no real prep needed except to level it. Within an hour our tack room that did have a dirt floor was re-born with a new 3 rail vinyl floor. This was old fence that would have been in the landfill.
If you know anyone who is removing three rail fence have them drop me a line here. I will come out, help remove the fence and then haul it off at no charge. Hey a shameless plug never does any harm.
