I don't know if I could be any more proud right now!

Remember how my absolute inability to say "no" to a Girl Scout who asks if I want to buy cookies? That guilt goes back to my sorority days. For those of you who don't know, I'm a Kappa Delta sister. One of our national philanthropies is Girl Scouts of the USA, so I'm a sucker who can't say no.

Now I get to brag on Kappa Delta for a different reason! My sorority daughter, Kelly Lake (she's the one to the left of me in the photo,) landed one of the rarest opportunities in game show history. She was invited to compete on Jeopardy! and her episode airs this Friday night. It took 12 years of taking the online Jeopardy test and two different in-person auditions in 2015 and 2018 to get there.

Kelly and I went to school together from elementary school through college. From the Quiz Bowl team at our high school to presenting at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research several times, she's one of the smartest people I know. She now works in the production department Illumination Entertainment. If that name sounds familiar, it's because they're the studio that brought you Despicable Me 2, Minions, The Secret Life of Pets, Sing, Despicable Me 3, The Grinch and Secret Life of Pets 2. She's been directly involved in all of those productions!

You can cheer her on by watching CBS2 on Friday, June 12 at 6 p.m.

You Could Be on the Show Next

Jeopardy! recently made some changes to the way they do their online testing that could land you the same opportunity as Kelly. Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, they would offer a three-day testing event online once or twice a year. Now they're offering the Jeopardy! Anytime Test where you can take the test that you have to pass to even be considered for the show at anytime that fits into your schedule.
