Michael B. Jordan Is on a Literal Hot Streak in ‘Fahrenheit 451’ First Trailer
It's barely three months into 2018, and Michael B. Jordan is already having a knockout year.
Following a standout performance in the newly released Black Panther, the freshly crowned internet boyfriend is already onto his next project: HBO's Fahrenheit 451, an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's 1953 dystopian novel of the same name.
The first trailer for the film arrived on Monday (February 26), featuring Jordan as Guy Montag, a steely fireman essentially tasked with the erasure of history. The movie is set within a world in which the written word is outlawed, and Jordan is one in an army of operatives assigned to find and burn books, censoring and destroying whatever limited knowledge might remain.
"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing — news, facts, memoirs, internet of old. Burn it,” Michael Shannon, who plays Jordan’s captain, demands in the clip. “We are not born equal, so we must be made equal by the fire.”
Though Jordan's character has been described as a man who "forsakes his world" and "battles his mentor," he seems very onboard with his mission here. "I want to burn," he seethes.
Directed by Ramin Bahrani, the TV feature also stars Sofia Boutella, Lilly Singh, Laura Harrier, and Martin Donovan. Jordan serves as an executive producer alongside Sarah Green, Alan Gasmer, and Peter Jaysen, among others.
An exact premiere date for Fahrenheit 451 has not yet been announced, but it's expected to air on HBO in May. Watch the trailer above.
