Meridian Police Search for Gun-Wielding Scooter Rider [Video]
One of the great luxuries of living in the Treasure Valley? It's safe, it's clean, and folks here are simply, very neighborly. We look out for one another and even as our area has 'boomed' and grown, we see time and time again that people rise to the occasion to help.
This week, police in Meridian are hoping that we can help identify someone that was up to no good a few weeks ago.
The Meridian Police Department released the following statement while asking for the public's help with this incident:
On January 21, 2026, at approximately 5:30 a.m., an unknown male was attempting to burglarize vehicles near W. Baldcypress St. and N. Centrepoint Way. During the incident, the suspect approached a young female and pointed a handgun at her before fleeing the area.
The suspect was wearing a mask, a black North Face puffy vest, black pants, and was riding a scooter. The scooter was later located abandoned and taken into evidence.
Is this not the most random thing you've ever read? And they ditched their scooter...
You can see in the video released by Meridian Police that the suspect was simply going up the street and trying to open every car door that was along the road--until they were finally able to open one right up.
If nothing else, let this be a serious reminder to lock your doors and take all valuables out of your vehicle--no matter how safe the Treasure Valley is.
