Although it's the last year for Boise State to be playing in the Mountain West Conference, the Broncos have plenty of challenges ahead with familiar foes. The likes of Fresno State and UNLV are on the team's conference schedule and the University of Nevada looms, led by former Boise State football coach Jeff Choate.

An oddball in the mix? The University of New Mexico, who traditionally, hasn't been a conference 'star' on the football field, if you will.

They have a new leader, he has Idaho ties, and lately, the internet has really been eating him up.

Meet Jason Eck, the head football coach at New Mexico and the guy that many say could march his team into Boise and win. The irony? He's the former Idaho Vandals head coach--in fact, just a year ago he was living in little Moscow, Idaho.

The guy made waves online while in Moscow--in fact, he made waves literally!

After a massive cannonball with his team--the internet fell in love with Eck instantly. 

Now, the passionate coach is garnering even more online love as he leads the New Mexico Lobos into a new season.

His impact is being labeled 'immediate' and fans are loving him.

Eck nearly defeated the Oregon Ducks while leading the University of Idaho (and the nation couldn't stop talking about him then) -- now, he marched into UCLA and embarrassed the Big 12 program.

His sense of humor and willingness to interact with the community is unparalleled in the sport.
