Costco Places Limits on Fresh Meat Purchases
First it was toilet paper. Then hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes. Now, it's some of the main ingredients to your favorite meals.
Normally, I roll my eyes when my husband goes overboard with the buy one, get one sale at Albertsons. Today, I'm regretting that that reaction. According to the New York Times, America's about to face a meat shortage due to coronavirus. That's because several meat processing plants pushed pause when a large number of their employees started getting sick.
For that reason, retailers are starting to put limits on the amount of fresh meats that customers can buy. Costco recently joined that list. Their COVID-19 updates webpage now lists a limit on fresh meat purchases. Members may only by a total of three items among their beef, pork and poultry offerings.
This is the second time Costco's been in the news this week. They're currently dealing with criticism from members making face masks a requirement for shopping in their warehouses.
