Idaho's favorite cocktail is Hot Buttered Rum, and Boise has one of the best places to get it.  Any argument?

The most popular cocktails in the U.S. from March 2020 to March 2021, according to Google Trends data, included the Moscow Mule, Pina Colada, Mimosa, Mojito, Manhattan, and Long Island Iced Tea.  Nobody picked plain ole Tito's and Diet Coke with a twist of lime, but that's more for me.

And rum!  Hot Buttered Rum is Idaho's favorite drink, according to Google Trends, and there is something about rum that makes a girl think of tanning on a chaise lounger next to a palm tree, and smelling like coconut sunscreen.  It can make even a January night in Boise feel tropical.

A TripAdvisor review says the best Buttered Rum in Boise is at Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery.  On its website, Bardenay shows some of its cocktails available for pickup and Hot Buttered Rum isn't on the list (probably because it's hot), but they do have a Ginger Rum cocktail that you can pick up in a pouch.  They have a location in Eagle too.

Idahopress.com adds Press and Pony on Idaho Street as a good option for a hot toddy like buttered rum.

The pandemic has given many of us time at home to perfect our bartending skills, and if you haven't worked your way toward Hot Buttered Rum just yet, Food Network posts a recipe that might be worth a try.  It involves more than three steps which makes some of us head straight to the bar to order one instead, but if you're up for a challenge and you have some butter, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and rum on hand, have at it.

The most popular cocktail in the U.S., pointed out by Fox News, is the beloved mimosa.  The piña colada and wine cooler rounded out the top three.  Water at happy hour is just fine too, whatever works for ya.  Cheers!
