Who else here has a countdown to Disney+ set in their smartphones? The wait is almost over!

We're just a little over five weeks away from the launch of the highly anticipated steaming platform that's going to be the exclusive home of all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pixar, Disney Animated Classic, some Disney Channel Original Series and of course ALL of the Star Wars movies!

Yup, all of them! The original trilogy, Episodes I-III, Solo, Rouge One, The Clone Wars and the brand new Disney+ Series, The Mandalorian which is set five years after Return of the Jedi...all in one place for the first time ever. If you're getting antsy about the Disney + launch because of Star Wars then the Boise Philharmonic has something special planned to tie you over! After their performance of Star Wars: A New Hope in concert was a smash in 2018, they're doing it again this Saturday.  This time around they'll be doing the second move in the original trilogy, Empire Strikes Back!

If you've never had a chance to see the Boise Philharmonic play a concert like this, you're missing out! They strip all of the music out of the soundtrack to the original movie, leaving just the dialogue in the film playing on a giant 40 foot screen in the concert hall.  All of the music you hear as the movie plays will be performed in real time by the orchestra.  It's a really cool thing to see come together!

There are two performances of the movie soundtrack: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $40.50-$83 and can be purchased HERE. Feel free to come dressed in your favorite Star Wars character (but leave your lightsabers at home.) You'll even be able to grab photos with some of the villains and heroes from the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion.

The local orchestra is no stranger to these types of performances.  They did a similar performances Harry Potter films with guest conductor John Beal. (The Star Wars performances will be conducted by the Boise Phil's own Eric Garcia.)  If you want to check out what it takes to pull off one these incredible performances, check out our interview with Harry Potter conductor, John Beal!
