Nick Jonas visited the The Ellen Degeneres Show in an interview airing Monday (May 9), and the "Jealous" singer answered Ellen's questions about his rumored fling with Kate Hudson. Well, he sort of answered her questions; more like he chose to keep the mystery going by sidestepping them entirely.

After confirming that he attended the 2016 Met Gala solo, and that he's indeed single ("People cheering your loneliness, that's great," Ellen remarks as her audience applauds this news), the daytime host gently continued to prod him. "You're really single right now?"

"How's Kate Hudson?" Ellen continued, in a non-non-sequitur. The two have been casually linked as maybe more than friends since last September.

"She's great!" he answers, sort-of attempting to be cagey but breaking into a big grin. "We had a group dinner the night before the Met Gala. It was lots of people, and she was there and I was there. It was a group."

"Whatever," Ellen said, voicing either skepticism or disinterest in his coy games.

Watch the rest of Nick's interview, in which he also discusses he and Demi Lovato's decision to cancel their two North Carolina tour stops over the trans-targeting bathroom bill and describes what it's like living with his brother Joe Jonas ("I'm actually his housekeeper"), in the video above.
