Mascots are often the face of schools, sports teams, cereal, and sometimes food chains or retail stores. Typically, a mascot helps customers recognize the store and pair the two together. It is a great marketing ploy and makes a brand memorable. When it comes to mascots, one of the most famous in the world has to be Ronald McDonald. The clown doesn't appear as much today as he once did, but is still the face of McDonald's for many generations. Not only is he the face of the fast food chain, but he has friends who are recognizable as well. The Hamburglar, Grimace, Mayor McCheese, Birdy the Early Bird, and Officer Big Mac, to name a few. For years, customers have been asking, 'What is Grimace?' and the answer has finally been revealed

What is Grimace at McDonald's?

So what exactly is Grimace? There have been theories for years. Some think he is a purple milkshake, others think he is a monster, as the original mascot was scary and appeared to be a bad guy. McDonald's has finally come out and revealed that Grimace is neither, and is a taste bud. Who knew that they were purple? The original mascot had a scarier face and four arms, but was changed to look more kid-friendly and went down to two arms to make it more appealing for children. The mascots are not seen much today, but Grimace continues to pop up from time to time, and for younger generations, might be more popular than Ronald McDonald.
