There are plenty of problems we're facing as a society in 2025:

  • Civil unrest
  • Overpriced goods and housing
  • Political turmoil

You'd think our local government would spend their time addressing those problems. You'd be wrong, of course, but you're welcome to think that.

Um, hold on. Boise did WHAT?

Yes, they did that.

This week, the Boise City Council all voted to add an amendment to a noise ordinance statute. In particular, one that prohibits the use of megaphones in specific public places.

Here's the dirt on Boise City Code § 5-7-3:

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or permit the operation of any loud amplification device in such a manner that the sound therefrom:
A. Is plainly audible within any place of residence not the source of the sound; or

B. Is plainly audible upon a public right-of-way or street at a distance of one hundred feet (100') or more from the source of such sound.

So, there you go! All of our problems are solved!

No more living paycheck-to-paycheck. No more wars. No more in-fighting. No more political arguements.

Thank you, Boise City Counsil, for making sure we can all sleep better tonight, knowing you're fighting in the best interest to improve of all our lives.

Ok, but what if it's an enormous, oversized megaphone? Does that still count?

Imagine walking downtown to a protest with this monstrosity under your arm. They'd be able to hear you in Canada!

P.S. Megaphone may require a back brace for proper operation.
