Are The Least Popular Baby Names In 2022 Common In Idaho?
Names, much like trends in general, come and go. They'll be popular one year, and nonexistent the next. Maybe it depends on who and what is popular in a given year, maybe it's all luck.
Metro just revealed the baby names that aren't as popular in 2022 as they were in previous years.
Some of these names I really like, others I haven't ever met someone with that name. I'm surprised some of the names on the list are losing popularity, instead of gaining given current pop culture trends.
With shows like Stranger Things and Euphoria being popular, I'd expect to start seeing character names from that be popular in 2022 and 2023. I've noticed names our grandparents had also seem to be making a comeback.
With celebrities getting constantly canceled in pop culture, I can imagine some names are now taboo that maybe weren't a decade ago. Names like Louis (like comedian Louis CK), Bill (Cosby), and Andrew (Prince) may be losing popularity.
That, of course, is just a hunch. We'll have to wait and see if any of those make the list, according to the data.
To determine what baby names are least popular in 2022, the study was conducted by baby experts Baby Bella and uses statistics from Google Trends.
The baby experts explained, "It is to be expected that some names behin to get out of fashion or popularity over time, whether that be an association with the name or just that it has been so overly used that it is no longer desired by new parents."
"While some names will always be firm favorites and are ever-lasting, there are certain names you wouldn't expect people to fall out of love with but that is the nature of choosing baby names."
Let's get to their data and see what names are losing favor in 2022 amongst parents.

Ah-ha! I had a feeling Bill would make the list. Outside of that, there are some surprises on there, I'd say.
I'm surprised to see Kobe losing popularity. I wonder if it had previously spiked very high in 2020 and 2021 and is just now losing popularity after two years. Same with Ashton. He's still pretty hip and popular. Maybe not to the extent that he was in 2005, but I like the name.
I also noticed this was a study conducted in the United Kingdom. That would explain Nigel. No wonder some of these names are unfamiliar to me. Being unfamiliar with a lot of British pop culture, I'm not sure why some of these names are losing popularity.
I know I can explain Bill. However, Simon, Chad, and Gary are all unexplained by me.
As for the baby girls name, they do seem fairly British. I can't explain any of those, either. However, the data is trusted, so this can be believed.
Now that we've gone over some names that aren't as popular any more, let's share some exciting names. If you're looking for a unique name for your baby girl or boy consider these Boise-inspired baby names for your little one!
