If you’re looking to get a bit of New Orleans influence at The Huckleberry Jam – Galactic is your band. This group is well-known for inviting guest musicians from New Orleans to perform onstage with them for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Having released music consistently since 1996, Galactic has developed a unique sound as a result of their variety of influences. From rock, funk and brass band, to blues, jazz and hip hop, Galactic music is truly has a one-of-a-kind sound. While having a diverse sound, they’re very much the embodiment of New Orleans.

Their Ya-Ka-May album includes guest performances by a range of New Orleans musicians including Rebirth Brass Band, Irma Thomas, Big Chief Bo Dollis of the Wild Magnolias, Allen Toussaint and Walter “Wolfman” Washington who are all long-established performers.

After releasing a live album titled The Other Side of Midnight: Live in New Orleans, they followed up with an album Carnivale where they invited emblematic artists from New Orleans to flesh out the diversity of Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras.

Always open to collaborate, Galactic has partnered with everyone from samba poets like Moyseis Marques, to pop stars like Macy Gray, rappers including the German Dendemann, and even 40-piece marching bands.
