I love the idea of New Year's resolutions. There are a lot of naysayers who think waiting for something as arbitrary as a date to develop new habits, break old ones, and set and accomplish goals is silly. Maybe it is. But I'd never hate on someone for finding a reason to begin self improvement. Everything in one's own time, right?

2020 has been a crap bag for the ages. I think just getting through the year at all is impressive and if you don't care to make any resolutions, that's cool too. I'm a creature of tradition, so I'm setting some goals for the new year despite not feeling like I'll have the energy. Here are the things I'd like to accomplish.

Consistency with my sleep schedule. I am failing harder than ever at getting enough rest. I work so early in the morning, my body still hasn't adjusted. Life has also just been much busier than usual and my time management has fallen out the window. My anxiety has been higher (not sure why, but I bet a therapist could help me figure it out), which contributes to not being able to fall asleep. So in order to achieve this resolution I have to also work on my time management skills and develop methods to cope with anxiety. 3 resolutions in 1.

Balance my diet/improve gut health. I've been feeling sluggish as of late and I a hundred percent know my eating habits are a major factor. I'm usually more diligent, especially this time of year, with what I consume. Time to reset. I haven't gained any weight during the holidays, which is nice. But it's more about my energy levels and how my body functions.

Advocate for myself personally and professionally. I am TERRIBLE at this and always ignore that it's a problem. Working with someone who is really healthy in this area has made it glaringly clear that I'm doing myself a disservice. Time for a change. But it's the end of the year and everyone is on vacation, so I quite literally have to wait until the new year.

That's it for now. I'll reassess mid year like I always do. But for now I feel good about these resolutions. What are you hoping to accomplish in 2021?
