One Reason Why Students in the Gem State Are Suffering
It might be summer, but school is fast approaching, and soon children will be waking up early once again to go to class and get an education. Parents will soon be finding out who their children's teachers are, getting school supplies, and focusing on what their child will learn this year. It is well known that Idaho does not have the best school systems in the country, and while there are many things that can play a factor in this, there is one major factor that many ignore that could be a huge problem with your child's education. One major issue is taking place at Idaho public schools that needs to be addressed before more students suffer.
States With the Most and Least Crowded Classrooms
When it comes to receiving a proper education, the more time a student gets with their teacher, the better. The problem is that far too many classrooms are overcrowded, including in Idaho. Fusion Academy recently collected data over the last few years and has revealed which states have the most overcrowded classrooms and which states have the least. According to their data, Arizona has the most overcrowded classrooms in America, which may come as a surprise to some. California comes in as the second most overcrowded state, which won't surprise many, and Nevada has the third most. The least crowded classrooms reside in Vermont, with Washington D.C. being second, and Maine being third; all three have lower populations than most states.
Are Idaho Classrooms Overcrowded?
Despite not being among the most populated states, Idaho classrooms are among the most crowded in the country, coming in at number seven on the list. According to the research, Idaho has 17,965 teachers in the state, with 316,414 students. On average, that means each teacher has 17.61 students per class. Eight of the top ten states with the most crowded classrooms are in the Western United States. While the numbers above are for public schools, private schools are worse, ranking as the third most crowded in the country, with 1,690 teachers, to 23,290 students, for an average of 13.78 students per teacher. Private school is believed to give students more one-on-one time, but in Idaho, the numbers are decently similar.

With schools struggling to keep and hire teachers, and there being a shortage in many states, it isn't surprising to see some of the ratios across the country, especially in Idaho. Sadly, the students are the ones who suffer when their class is so overcrowded that they can't receive more help when they need it.
