Potato Gleaning Info

This Saturday we will be conducting Kevin & Brenda's 4th Annual Charity Potato Gleaning to benefit 107.9 Lite FM's "Christmas Wish" program.

Time:  8am - 6 pm

Where:  Eagle  - exact location will be given out Friday morning per the farmer's request so that early birds won't get in the way while he is still harvesting the field.

How much? $10.00 suggested donation per vehicle to glean as many potatoes as you want!   Church groups and food banks are welcome.

What exactly is a potato gleaning?   After the farmer has used his heavy equipment to harvest the field you go out on foot and gather potatoes by hand.

What to bring:  something to haul your potatoes home in and whatever you'd like to use to get them out of the field.  Some people just use their bare or gloved hands, some bring shovels, hoes or hand held small gardening tools.

A snack and something to drink could come in handy if you plan to stay for a while.   We are working on getting a porta potty donated for Saturday's event but you )

The potatoes will be plentiful and fairly easy to access.  Sneakers or boots you don't mind getting dirty are also a good idea.  Keep in mind you will be out in the country walking around on a lumpy, bumpy field so you will be getting a bit of a workout.
