People tend to feel generous during the holidays in December, but January can be a rough month for organizations that rely on donations.  Boise's Meals on Wheels program is feeling the pinch, and could use a boost right now.

The Metro Meals on Wheels program tries to serve as many residents as it can each day, but there's been a drop lately in donations and volunteer hours.

The serves 900 hot meals per day and 700 meals on the weekends, but it's feeling the pinch right now.  Some seniors waiting for food live in homes where the kitchen isn't in the best shape to be making meals, and some of them are unable to cook because of physical issues.  Bottom line is, those folks across the Treasure Valley rely on meals that may not come because of the stress on the program.

Metro Meals on Wheels says on its website that it delivers daily meals to homebound seniors in Ada County and serves meals in senior centers in Boise, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Meridian, and Star, as well as Northgate Senior Village and Samaritan Village in Boise.  That's a lot to keep up with every day.
