Take That, Target: Beyonce Surprises Fans at WalMart [PHOTOS]
Hell hath no fury like a 'Grown Woman' scorned. After Target announced that they wouldn't be selling Beyonce's blockbuster new album, Queen Bey went into stealth mode again, making a surprise appearance at their biggest competitor's store: WalMart.
For reference if you're unfamiliar, Target threw shade at Beyonce, who previously released exclusive deluxe editions for the retailer and even appeared in their commercials, by releasing the following statement following her iTunes release:
“At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections.
“While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyonce in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats.
“At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce’s new self-titled album ‘Beyonce.’”
Do you really think Beyonce would just sit there and take that?
The 'XO' singer dropped into a Tewksbury, Mass. WalMart completely by surprise on Friday (Dec. 20). But Beyonce didn't just show her 'Flawless' face in the superstore. She picked up a physical copy of her new record -- the very record that Target publicly refused to stock -- and also did something super generous. treated fans to $37,500 worth of gift cards to WalMart with the message "Happy Holidays from Beyonce" ... and chances are they spent a few of those bucks on 'Beyonce.'
We see you, Bey!
