
Alcohol Believed a Factor in Idaho Accident that Injured a Teen Over the Weekend
Over the weekend there were five highway accidents reported by the Idaho State Police. Those involved come from Idaho, Utah, Montana, Washington, Nevada, and Great Britain.
An 18-year-old was killed and three people were injured in the accidents.
Teen Injured in Idaho Accident: Alcohol Believed to be a Factor
Both of the more serious accidents over the weekend happened within a few hours of each other early on Saturday morning and involved teen drivers.
Idaho State Police reported that a 2-vehicle accident happened around 3:21 in the morning on July 19th on I84 near mile marker 1 in Boise. Police believe alcohol may be a factor in the crash and are investigating the incident.
A 19-year-old male, from Nampa, was traveling westbound on the connector in a red 2013 Honda Accord.
He was observed driving at a high rate of speed and struck the back of a tan 1999 Pontiac Bonneville that was also traveling westbound, driven by a 66-year-old female from Boise.
Each of the vehicles hit concrete barriers. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and the driver of the Honda was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
Teen Killed in Early Morning Rollover Accident in Idaho
The other serious accident took the life of a young driver on July 19th on US95 near mile marker 448. The accident happened at about 1:45 in the morning.
The accident is under investigation, but the preliminary report states:
A 1998 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 18-year-old male from Athol, Idaho was traveling northbound on US 95, failed to maintain their lane, ran off the roadway onto the northbound roadside, overcorrected, and overturned continuing to roll back onto the roadway coming to a final rest within the right northbound lane of travel.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was wearing a seatbelt, but sadly passed away in the crash.

A highway accident happened on Saturday afternoon between 4 vehicles occupied by people from Washington, Nevada, Great Britain, Utah, and Montana. The crash happened near Blackfoot.
A 2005 Toyota 4Runner, traveling south on I15, came upon slowed traffic near a construction zone. The driver struck the rear of a 2025 Audi Q7 which caused a chain reaction crash involving the following vehicles and occupants:
- A 2017 Nissan Rogue, occupied by a 25-year-old female driver and a 48-year-old male passenger, both from Chehalis, WA, and a 27-year-old male passenger from Great Britain.
- A 2024 Ford Expedition, occupied by a 71-year-old male driver and a 38-year-old female passenger, both from Glen, MT.
- The Toyota was occupied by a 24-year-old male driver, a 24-year-old female passenger, and a juvenile, all from Las Vegas, NV.
- The Audi was occupied by 52-year-old female driver, from Huntsville, UT, and a 22-year-old female passenger, from Ogden, UT
The report from ISP states that all vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts but doesn’t say if anyone was injured or required medical attention.
