Just days ago, after a top secret operation executed by Idaho law enforcement officials, Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students, was transferred to Boise's Ada County Jail from Moscow, Idaho. Kohberger arrived by a small private plane owned by the Idaho State Police.

The move, of course, all stemmed from a recent ruling in Latah County by Judge John C. Judge. Judge Judge ruled in favor of Kohberger's defense team--stating that in order for a fair trial to take place, it should be given a larger jury pool. Ada County, the state's largest county, was chosen (as no surprise) by the Idaho Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of the State of Idaho changed up the following:

  • Kohberger's trial will be held in Boise, Idaho at the Ada County Courthouse
  • District Judge Steven Hippler will now oversee the trial
  • Bryan Kohberger will be transferred to the custody of the Ada County Sheriff

Since being moved to the Ada County Jail, Kohberger has not left the facility.

This Thursday, Kohberger will be transported to the Ada County Jail for the first time for a 'Status Hearing'.

Don't expect any crazy headlines from the hearing--remember, this isn't the trial and it hasn't even begun yet!

A status hearing is a chance for the prosecution, defense, and judge to all get on the same page for the case and it's important to note: the case now has a new judge. With a new judge may come new ground rules (for things like cameras in the courtroom or other procedures).

The start date for the trial remains June of 2025 or until further notice.

We knew that the trial would be moved to one of these five locations
