The Idaho Statesman Goes On Strike

Yesterday Idaho residents who happened to be driving down E Park Center Blvd in Boise may have noticed that the team at the Idaho Statesman was outside of their building. As of yesterday they went on strike and they were standing on the street letting the residents of Boise know what their frustrations were. You could hear all of the cars honking in support of the team at the Idaho Statesman as they started their strike.

The Idaho Statesman's Wants

A spokesperson for the Idaho Statesman shared what their wants were in order to end the strike. He shared information about their pay, budget cuts, and AI.

It seems one of the demands is for higher pay. He shared that they were asked to write 20% more articles with only a very little pay raise. The spokesman said that they don't want a drastic pay raise however they want their pay to reflect the amount of work they do and the inflation that is currently happening in our country.

He also shared details about AI. That corporate had been allowing AI to rewrite their articles and publish them even if the details were wrong. He spoke about wanting to hold AI to the same standards as the dedicated journalists are held to. He also shared that they don't want AI to take their jobs and gave examples of how AI can't do the same things that they could including going to a Boise State game and capturing the emotions of the crowd.
