In case you've been living under a rock, you probably know that Idaho is home to the Satanic Temple of Idaho. A temple that may sound intimidating at first but is actually a temple that promotes harmony and does some good for the community.

In order to become a member of the Satanic Temple of Idaho, you'll need to abide by its 7 tenets.

The 7 Tenets of the Satanic Temple of Idaho

Here's a look at the core beliefs of The Satanic Temple of Idaho according to their site.

I'm not going to lie - when I first came across these tenets, I didn't exactly expect to see words like "compassion" and "empathy." We often associate the name "Satan" with horrific things and I'll be straight up with you - I wouldn't dabble in any of that stuff even if I knew it was harmless. But, that doesn't mean I don't want to understand it from the people who actually live it. Why not?

How Do The Satanists Feel About Christmas?

Being that Christmas is the holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, how do Satanists feel about ol' Baby Jesus and Christmas? Surely, they'll be lighting black candles, donning their best black outfits, and doing rituals around a bonfire in the woods, right? Not at all!

As a matter of fact, the official Church of Satan's website says that members don't have to celebrate holidays of any sort!

Since Satanism is a self-centered religion, the highest holiday of the year would be the Satanist’s own birthday, which needs no ritual but should be spent in doing things a Satanist would enjoy. There is no requirement that a Satanist celebrate any holidays, and there are no hard and fast traditions or rites associated with them.

As for Christmas, Satanists don't exactly "hate" Baby Jesus or anyone who celebrates Christmas. They have their views on how Christians "stole" Christmas and elaborate with more detail on their official site. They sum up their view of Christmas with a sense of "pride" that they know where Christmas originally comes from:

So for the Yule holiday season we enjoy the richness of life and the company of people whom we cherish, as we will often be the only ones who know where the traditions really came from!

It doesn't seem like the followers of Satan hate Baby Jesus but they seem more proud to know "the truth" more than anything. What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts here.
