You may have noticed the signs changing on the gyms you pass every day. Axiom Fitness is now Villa Sport.

Did Axiom Fitness get bought out?

If you have been in an Axiom Fitness gym in the past three years, you've already experienced Villa Sport because they actually bought Axiom in April of 2022. Villa Sport typically owns big, resort-style gyms. Most Villa Sports have beautiful outdoor pools, salons, and even cafes. That will not be the case with the former Axiom gyms, which will remain unchanged. The only real difference you will see is the name on the sign. The major differences have happened over the past two and a half years.

Axiom Fitness was originally owned by Steve Appleton, a former Micron CEO who converted a few Gold's Gym locations into his Axiom Fitness brand in 2013. The company had four gyms when it was sold by Appleton's widow, Dalynn Appleton, in 2017.

In April 2022, Villa Sport announced its purchase of Axiom Fitness to "complement its plans to build a massive resort-style club" in Meridian, but those plans never came to fruition. The four former Axiom gyms will combine with Villa Sports' existing nine locations across California, Colorado, Oregon, and Texas. While these four gyms have been a part of the Villa Sport family for the past two years, the rebranding of Axiom Fitness makes it official and marries the rest of the company's assets with the Treasure Valley locations.
