We're finally seeing some cooler temperatures and before we know it, the white stuff we call snow will be falling from the Treasure Valley skies.

This brings out another side of Boise, a beautiful one. On the other hand, the snow can also bring out some of the most destructive behavior.

Forgotten hazards of winter weather in Boise

When most people hear the words "destructive" and "snow", the first thing they might think of is the dangers drivers will face on the roads.... and understandably so! It takes time for some drivers to reacclimate to the winter conditions and readjust to the icy roads.

However, there is one thing people might not think to approach with caution once the snow falls - the trails.

And look, we get it - you want to enjoy the great outdoors that Idaho has to offer and aren't quite ready to say goodbye to Idaho parks. But, like rain, snow makes the trails muddy and can take some time to seep into the ground.

It's why park officials strongly advice against people taking to the trails once we experience snowfall. And while it might not be longtime residents, there are still quite a few people moving into Idaho that might not know to stay off the trails.

Let's take a look at some of the destruction new hikers could cause if they choose to use the trails once it snows.
