Are we selfish?  Idahoans don't volunteer time or give as much money as other states do, but we have a chance to change that today.  It's National Giving Day, and that's why you're seeing #GivingTuesday on social media.

And See how low Idaho ranks in terms of the most charitable states.  It's not pretty.

Utah is the most charitable state, according to a new report from WalletHub. They looked at factors like percentage of income donated, the amount of time volunteered, and percentage of sheltered homeless, to come up with the state rankings.

Idaho ranks 40th.  Yuck!  We can do better.  States including Wisconsin, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Washington, and Oregon all ranked ahead of us. Washington is 19th and Oregon is 26th, according to WalletHub.

After the Black Friday madness, and more buying on Small Business Saturday, um.....Shopping-because-it's-fun Sunday, and Cyber Monday, we turn the corner and today is Giving Tuesday.  Two questions.  Can we be more generous?  And does everything have to have a catchy name?

#GivingTuesday is a real thing, and it's the chance to prove today that there's more to Idaho than meets the eye.  The Idaho Food Bank, churches, the Salvation Army, and other non-profits are counting on it.
