If it hasn't hit you, there's no doubt someone in your home, workplace, or circle of friends has probably been down with the flu this year, and it's more sever than usual.

Our office has been cycling through people, with daily "out sick" emails since mid-December.  I was one of them and my 3 days out were some of the sickest I've been in years.

It's not just here at the radio station though, as CDC warnings started in December 2017 about the severity of the flu season we would be experiencing.  You've probably seen our coverage about the school closures and impact across the Treasure Valley, but it's not even just our region dealing with it.

Forty-nine states and Puerto Rico have all reported widespread flu activity during the final week of December, and according to a report in the Idaho Statesman, there have been 13 deaths in Idaho attributed to the flu this year, which they say is the worst it's been in 7 years.

The recommendation from Idaho Health officials is that everyone over six months old receive a flu shot, and that it's not too late in the season to get one.  It's taking around two to three weeks for most to completely recover if they've caught the flu this season.
