The Walking Dead
Yep, sucked you right in thinking this was a post about the next season on “The Walking Dead.” Actually this is an attempt to get you to join my team for the “Fit One Celebration” is September 20th. It was the Women’s Fitness Celebration, but then became something for every member of the family. Get registered now for one of the walks because after September 1st the price goes up.
My team is “The Walking Dead.” We are going to do the 5K walk/run, while Brenda and Lisa tackle the half marathon (13K). So while they are off lost somewhere sweating, we will be kicked back, enjoying a cool beverage, scaring others ‘er cheering others on. Scoring some food and freebies. Doesn’t that sound better than going 13 miles.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love fitness, working out, bike riding, all that. I’m just not a 13 mile runner. I’m more of a sprinter, I love to play basketball. Sure in basketball you will end up running 10-20 miles, but it’s done in bursts not one foot after the other. I also love riding my bicycle on the greenbelt. An average ride for us is about 22 miles in an hour and a half and we always see something cool.
Hey I used to be close to a 300 pounder. I was huge and very unhealthy, even though I didn’t think so. It wasn’t easy changing and it took time to drop the weight, but I’ve kept it off for the last 20 years. Yes, I used to be the food loving fat guy. Funny thing is I was an athlete before I got heavy. I had just stopped working out and never stopped eating like I was working out.
