Everything is so much cuter when it's miniature! My house has a lot of great Christmas decorations but they are plain-ish (as in: they can go with anything) and lack personality. I'm tired of looking at the same ol' thing so, this year, I wanted to add a little more to it. That's where this little car carrying a Christmas tree came in. Oh, but there's more to it.

Along with my basic decorations is my really plain table. What does one put at the table that can hold someone's name or just add a little fun? I'm not the traditional type so adding a sprig of green or a card with someone's name at each setting isn't me. This car, however, is very me!

I literally had $2 in cash with me and told myself that it was all I would spend.

Supplies:

  • Twine
  • Ribbon
  • Miniature tree
  • Toy car
  • Glue dots or hot glue

I had the twine, ribbon and glue. I took my two crisp one dollar bills and marched myself into the store. The tree was $0.75 (give or take about 3 cents) at Walmart and the car was $0.98 at Walgreens. I was looking for a classic-looking truck but it's a toy and it didn't matter that much.

Instructions:

  1. Unscrew the bottom of the tree and get rid of the "base".
  2. Plunk the tree on top of the car and measure the length of twine it takes to wrap around the tree. You can even go all the way underneath the car.
  3. Cut the twine and wrap around tree.
  4. Glue the twine to the sides of the car or tie underneath...or on top...or wherever you want because it's your project and you are in charge.
  5. Tie a bow in the ribbon and place on the front of the car. Even  better, if you have those sticker embellishments in a Christmas-y theme, stick that to the front of the car.
If you are using these cute little Christmas cars as place settings, tuck a piece of paper (card stock so it's sturdy) into the tree and have it sticking right out the top. Cute as can be.
