Today (Friday 9/25) and tomorrow (Saturday 9/27) we will be conducting Kevin & Brenda's 4th Annual Charity Potato Gleaning to benefit 107.9 Lite FM's "Christmas Wish" program.

Time: Friday 4pm - 7 pm  and Saturday 8am - 6 pm

Where: Eagle -  near Floating Feather and Linder Roads.  The field is about a 1/4 mile west of Linder Road and then north on Lanewood Road.   Just watch for the signs.

How much? $10.00 suggested donation per vehicle to glean as many potatoes as you want! Church groups and food banks are welcome to come and gather potatoes as well.

What exactly is a potato gleaning? After the farmer has used his heavy equipment to harvest the field you go out on foot and gather potatoes by hand.

What to bring: something to haul your potatoes home in and whatever you'd like to use to get them out of the field. Some people just use their bare or gloved hands, some bring shovels, hoes or hand held small gardening tools.

A snack and something to drink could come in handy if you plan to stay for a while. Thanks to the folks at Porta Pros we will have bathroom facilities on site.

The potatoes are plentiful and fairly easy to access. Sneakers or boots you don't mind getting dirty are also a good idea. Keep in mind you will be out in the country walking around on a lumpy, bumpy field so you will be getting a bit of a workout.

Kevin went out to inspect the field last night and brought some home so I made up a batch of baked taters which he had for dinner last night and again this morning for breakfast!
