Skip The Vet, Get Meds For the Pet at the Grocery Store?

If you have a pet that frequently or continually needs medication, a new Idaho company is creating a new place to get your pet's prescription:  The grocery store. 

PetIQ, which is based in Eagle, has come up with a new concept for getting medications and supplements that they say are the same quality of those you can get at your vet, at your local grocery store.  That's the plan at least.

The company was founded less than 10 years ago, and as they've been building their concept and roll out, they began trading stock last week on Nasdaq Global Market.

PetIQ reports selling more than 400 medications that require a prescription, and over 200 over-the-counter products for pet health like flea killer.  They also offer supplements, pet hygiene, treats, vitamins and other products as well.

If this sounds familiar, you may have found their PetIQ products as VetIQ at Wal-Mart, Albertsons, Target, Costco, and more retailers already.  They also have a footprint at 40,000 pharmacies across the county too.

The company is run by two Treasure Valley residents and dog lovers, and employs approximately 250 people in offices here in Eagle, Florida, and various factories.
