While we were busy jogging through Expo Idaho and bouncing on the obstacles at the Insane Inflatable 5K this weekend, a Rocky Mountain Senior was running his way into the history books!

Rocky Mountain Senior, Michael Slagowski became only the 9th high school boy in history to run the mile in less than 4 minutes! Slagowski, who already owns the nation's top times in the 800 and 1600 meter runs raced to a win and a 3:59.53 mile at the Nike Jesuit Twilight Relays in Portland.

It's no surprise that Slagowski has been compared to another famous Idaho track and field star, Nick Symmonds. Symmonds graduated from Bishop Kelly in 2002 and has represented Team USA in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games. The first tweet on Slagowski's Twitter account was a congratulatory tweet from Symmonds after he won the 800 meter at the Arcadia Invitational in 2015.

Slagowski will continue his running career at Penn State University next year.
