I can't quite remember if we became a shoe-less house after my son was born so the crud wouldn't make it's way from the floor to his mouth or if it was before him so I didn't have to clean as often. Either way, shoes in our house stay by the front door. Still. Apparently this is offensive to some. Why?

In reading an article on The Stir, I learned that something I do at my house could be seen as offensive to my guests. I honestly never thought about it. It's just something we do. In the door, off with the shoes. No fussing, no arguing, it just happens. Oh, and backpack on the hook, lunchbox on the kitchen counter and coats hung up. The rest of the day, it's a hot mess in my house.

The Stir brings up great points about why people live in shoe-less houses. Guess what's on your footwear?

  1. Pesticide residue
  2. Carcinogens
  3. Lead
  4. Dirt

And here I was only worried about dirt. Ewwwwww.

Are you someone who says no to shoes in the house or are the shoe-less home people nutso?
