Macy's is planning on closing 100 of its retail stores beginning in 2017. Store officials say it's due to changing shopping patterns and increased online retail competition.

On Thursday, the company announced plans for more sustained future growth, including featuring more name brands in their stores and ramping up the process of shopping online.

Macy's currently operates 675 retails stores in the U.S. No word yet on what locations will be closing. There are three Macy's locations around the Treasure Valley:

Macy's Boise Town Square / 370 North Milwaukee / Boise

Macy's Nampa Gateway / 1406 North Galleria Drive / Nampa

Macy's Magic Valley Mall / 1379 Poleline Road East / Twin Falls
