Just Keepin’ It Reel
My hubby and I tend to pick out movies at opposite ends of the spectrum. I usually like a nice rom-com (if it’s not too predictable) or maybe a supernatural type of show as long as it doesn’t get gross and gory.
I drew the short straw this weekend when Kevin called and offered to pick up “Winters Tale” at Redbox. Pretty show, hard to follow, what the heck…Will Smith? Really….strange character. Colin Farrell great accent, nice to look at, but he even seemed a little confused about how the movie was supposed to roll out. The flying horse with the angel wings was the best part of the movie. Thank goodness we had a .75 cent off rental code for this one.
Then last night Kevin and our youngest son Kody went to the Edwards 21 and took in the IMAX 3D showing of “Guardians of the Galaxy.” (I was invited at the last minute but I could tell they really wanted it to be just a buddy show.) Anyway, they came home all smiles and quoting lines from the show which was number one by a landslide in the overall box office weekend tallies.
Kevin is taking a personal interest in the success of the movie with heavy 1980′s references as he says that just proves he can pick which movies are good since I’m the one who chose the “dog” movie to see. Still shaking my head about his reasoning since he rented the movie that turned out to be a dud. For more of Kevin’s take on “Guardians of the Galaxy” check out his blog.
