A few years ago, I started making a short list of things I wanted to focus on in the upcoming year instead.

The first year, I failed miserably.  I did a little better in 2017. This year I'm hoping for a perfect 3/3 on my goals!

In 2018, I Will...Try One New Recipe a Week

It's a common misconception that I can't cook.  That couldn't be further from the truth! I can cook, I just don't enjoy it nearly as much as Nate does.  That's why he's the one usually manning the stove top, oven, deep fryer or grill.  This year, I want to pitch in a little more with the cooking, so I'm challenging myself to try one new recipe a week.  If I pull it off, I'll know how to make 52 new meals by the end of the year! The biggest hurdle for me is going to be balancing the healthy meals that Nate wants as he tries to drop some pounds for our August wedding and the carb loaded meals that I'll need as I train for the Lake Lowell Marathon in April.

In 2018, I Will...Take a Digital Detox

Overall 2017 was an amazing year for me.  I got engaged. I got promoted. I'm loving my new home at LITE-FM and for the first time in a long time, I'm actually excited to get up for work in the morning.  But 2017, had some low points where good friends of mine and I were beat up repeatedly on social media.  I knew it was happening (and continues to happen,) and for some reason would check in on it every once in a while.  No more. I don't need a reason to be angry.

In 2018, I Will...Run the Sawtooth Relay

If you run and you live in the state of Idaho, there are a few races that are a "right of passage." Most notably the Race to Robie Creek, which I tackled for the first time in 2017. Another one of those races is the 6 person, 62 mile relay from Stanley to Ketchum known as the Sawtooth Relay.  I've ALWAYS wanted to do this race, but my old job didn't really give me that freedom. This year? Totally different story.  Our co-ed team "O Van, Where Art Thou?" is officially registered for the race and I can't wait to spend some time in the mountains with some of my favorite teammates from Team Run Boise. The race is scheduled for June 9, 2018.
