Idaho Lawmakers Approve Transportation Bills

The Idaho legislature has been busy over the last few weeks, and Friday, took on some transportation proposals (designed to fix aging roads and bridges). 

The Transportation and Defense Committee in the House agreed to move forward on three of smaller proposals, but rejected the $49 million dollar funding proposal that would have required an increase in the State gas tax by five cents.

Some lawmakers argued that, while not the ideal situation, an increase in the gas tax was the best option.  Republican lawmakers felt that with a surplus in the budget, it couldn't be justified.  They are alternate plans being discussed, and you see more about this from KTVB Newschannel 7.
