First, Boise is named the 6th best city in the US to live, and now the news that Idaho is an ideal place to retire.

We're is on a roll this week.

When we think of the optimal place to retire, we usually think of Florida, and beaches and all those unfashionable shirts with floral patterns, right?  We may be seeing more flowery outfits in Idaho too, now that we're in the Top 10 Best Places to Retire, according to Bankrate.

These are the criteria they used:

Cost of living

Quality of health care

Taxes

Crime

Overall well-being

Idaho is pretty much rocking all of these categories, and we're miles ahead of the typical best-known spots for retirees like Florida, California, and Hawaii.  Those places are crazy expensive.

People can afford to live here, we've got great scenery and outdoor recreation, and our neighbors tend to behave themselves to make it peaceful for all of us.

Idaho is ranked #7.

The #1 place to retire according to Bankrate, is Wyoming.  And Montana, Utah, and Colorado all made the Top 10.  So it looks like more people are headed West.

Sometimes we get itchy to move and try something new, but note-to-selves -- the grass is not always greener on the other side of Idaho's fence. We're in a great spot, with Boise being named the 6th Best Place to Live by US News, and now Idaho's ranking as an ideal spot to retire.  There's no reason to leave!
