The state of Idaho is implementing a new high school mercy rule that will be adopted by all 11-man football classifications pending one more vote.

The Idaho High School Activities Association board will vote once more, but it's likely the rule will be enacted.

The Idaho Statesman explains the rule as:

"The rule stipulates that once a team is ahead by 40 points in the second half, the clock will run continuously with the exception of timeouts, official timeouts and scoring plays. The rule will need to pass another board vote in August before it can officially take effect for the 2016 season."
