A phone app that started in Europe and gives customers the chance to buy leftover food from restaurants at a discount is coming the the U.S., and hopefully the Treasure Valley.

The app, called Too Good To Go, gives users a direct connection to get leftovers or food that would go to waste at a discounted price.  You log in, choose your favorite restaurant, and select a window of time that they provide to pick up your food.

Times are generally after peak hours or close to closing.  The meals cost between $2.50 and $5.00, and you can't necessarily choose your exact items, but will get a general indication of what food is available.

In Denmark, it's already saved nearly 100,000 meals from being thrown away since launching in October 2015.  You can also donate money to provide meals for people in need.

It's expected to launch in the U.S. before the end of the year.
